Change in Climate & its Adverse Effects
As a Northerner, I've witnessed a drastic change in the climate around me over time. Summers are lengthy and winters are short now. As of this July, it was considered the hottest month of all time. Even monsoon season didn't bring any relaxation in the weather. Even after huge rainfall, the temperature rises.
This year I've also come to know about other problems that are occurring worldwide and due to which present & future generation would suffer.
Extreme hotness
The weather is really hot starting from April. Earlier, June was considered the hottest month of summer and it was expected that after 15 June Rainfall will start. But Now in some regions of North people yearn for Rainfall to arrive. Since the past 5 years we've been witnessing extreme hot climate during Summers. July 2019 was the hottest month ever recorded in the history of Earth.
Water Shortage
We all have water available at our homes that no one is aware that India is facing acute water shortage problem. Recently this year Chennai faced water crisis. One of the main reasons behind this crisis is monsoon failure. People of Chennai had to suffer a lot during this year. Due to water crisis Schools, College, offices and many other institutions were closed. As of now, 3 rivers, 4 water bodies, 5 wetlands and 6 forests have completely dried up in Chennai. Chennai has been a Water deficient city and has encountered water shortage before in the past. What's happening in Chennai is a wake up call for other Cities of India. According to a study, 40% of India's Population will not have access to drinking water by the year 2030 & Major Indian cities like Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai will run out of groundwater by 2020.

We all know that Earthquake happen due to tectonic movement in the Earth's Crust. Earthquake are legally considered as an 'Act of God' but according to a new database, created by geophysicist at Durham & New Castle universities, United Kingdom has tracked down 730 cases of man-made earthquakes over the last 150 years. Mining was the most common quake-trigger, accounting for 37 percent of human-made cases. Water contained behind reservoir dams made up 23 percent of these events, while conventional oil and gas extraction caused 15 percent. Source:
Global warming is a major aspect of climate change. It can be defined as the long-term rise in the average temperature of the Earth's climate system. Several Chilling facts that prove Our Planet is Dying:
- 440 billion tons of ice is expected to melt off Greenland's giant ice sheet.
- 11% of the world's population (800 million people) are directly under threat from things like droughts, floods, heat waves and sea-level rise.
- Seventeen of the Earth years have occurred since 2000.
- The concentration of carbon dioxide is the highest it has been in 3 million years.
- Greenland and Antarctica sheets have decreased by more than 150 cubic km of ice in mass.
The change in atmosphere is a major concern for all of us. This Planet Earth is our home and we must protect our home.
